They worshipped and prayed at night and fasted during the day, relying for their food on the plants of the earth and rainwater. One day, Jesus came down from the mountain to collect some plants to eat with his mother. At that moment, an angel came down to the Virgin Mary while she was praying in her prayer niche. She was afraid and fell unconscious. After she regained consciousness, she said to the angel: Who are you, may God have mercy on you? He said to her: I am the Angel of Death. She said to him: Have you come as a visitor or to seize? He said: Rather, to seize. But he did not hear any response from her, so he thought that she was tired and wanted to sleep. He returned to her a third time, trying to wake her up until he heard a voice from the sky telling him that his mother’s soul had ascended to the sky.
