Experience teaches us that nothing is more difficult than taking unsolicited, unwanted warnings seriously and responding accordingly. Society is indeed addicted to the future and employs legions of forecasters, fortune tellers and oracles. But even today, Cassandra-like warnings are often seen as doom-mongering and trigger defensive reflexes. The line between scaremongering and justified concern is fine and not always clearly definable. Not only is our ability to distinguish fake news from facts - we often blind ourselves to the situation so that we don't have to react. Perhaps the bitter historical experiences of the 20th and 21st centuries will help to sensitize our ability to perceive early warnings and break the barrier between recognizing and reacting. This was discussed on June 29th in a Zoom event with Dr. Géza von Geyr (German Embassy Moscow), Prof. Dr. Ernst Ulrich von Weizsäcker (Club of Rome) and Prof. Dr. Jürgen Wertheimer (Project Cassandra) discussed. The event was a cooperation between Project Cassandra and the Global Ethic Institute. Further links: https://weltethos-institut.org/ https://www.projekt-cassandra.net/Pro...
