However, he failed to understand the defensive power of the terrain or the spirit of the men of Rohan, who were fighting for their home and their people. Moreover, Saruman failed to properly lead his army, relying on distance and strength of numbers, and he dismissed the threat of the Ents, who, with their attack on Isengard, sealed his defeat.
