🚴♀️ The Bergfreundinnen tour is available here in the media library: https://1.ard.de/bergfreundinnen-bike... #doku #mountainbike #berge This documentary shows how a serious fall on a mountain bike changed the life of sports-loving journalist Katharina "Kaddi" Kestler. She is in the fast lane not only professionally as host of the "Bergfreundinnen" podcast, but also privately. She doesn't know any rest periods: If the job allows it, every minute is planned for outdoor activities: freeskiing in the Alps, in Canada or Japan or mountain biking up and down the mountains. In her early 40s, Kaddi does what she enjoys, both professionally and privately. And often a little too much of it. She defines herself through her lifestyle, through how she skis, how she mountain bikes. Then comes May 2022. Two more weeks and then Canada is next. Kaddi wants to take some time, on the one hand to explore the best mountain bike trails in Canada and on the other hand: time to think about how things are going in my life right now. But first a quick wellness weekend in South Tyrol, on her favorite downhill trail near Oberbozen. Once again on the mountain bike, first up and then down over hill and dale. But that's exactly where it happens - on the challenging trail, at a very easy point on the descent. A pedal gets stuck and she falls on her neck. She manages to get up and call for help. Then it all happens quickly: her throat closes up. Helicopter. Hospital - larynx coma. 10 long days. It's a knife edge several times whether she survives. And her voice is broken - as a podcaster... The accident resets life and existential questions suddenly arise in very concrete terms: Who am I? What do I want from life? Can I carry on as before? And what if it were over tomorrow? The film traces Kaddi's earlier life, tells the story of the fall and accompanies her for the first time since the accident to her favorite trail in South Tyrol, the place where it all happened. Kaddi also visits the doctors who saved her life. And the camera is there when she tries to get back on the fast track.
