The façade retains its essence with few modifications, highlighting a white concrete frame that frames the whole. The garage, which was relocated, is oriented towards the most favorable side, ensuring that the project is in harmony with light and ventilation. Upon entering, the hall and the first bay reveal the original vestiges of the house: beams and joists that were restored to maintain the character of the space. Although the rest of the house underwent renovations in the 70s, this space has been rescued with a design that includes a carpet of pasta flooring, a baseboard that allows the walls to breathe, and a dividing wall that adds a unique atmosphere. The garage, with direct access to the kitchen and stairs, follows a free style with custom carpentry. From here, we go up to the upstairs bedroom, which connects fluidly to the covered terrace. This outdoor space features a grill, bar, and lattices that provide privacy without sacrificing modern style. The kitchen, designed on an open plan, breaks with the traditional patterns of downtown Mérida. Without dividing walls, the columns are placed externally to maximize visual spaciousness. Floor-to-ceiling doors and continuous tile create a feeling of spaciousness, while stained oak finishes, white quartz, and round blue Venetian details add an elegant and warm touch. The dining room follows the functionalist philosophy that defines the entire project. This space combines aesthetics and logic, where each area is orthogonal and responds to a practical need, without losing beauty in the process. The living room, with aged travertine marble floors, maintains a neutral and elegant line, while natural aluminum accentuates the architectural details. The pool is another spectacular space, with a deck-like floor and a masonry dividing wall that not only provides privacy, but allows the structure to breathe. A jetty in the pool adds dynamism to the space, while the use of polished cement reinforces the concept of organic and authentic materials. The terrace, with a pergola that plays between open and closed, creates shade for the outdoor living room, ideal for the orientation of the house. The exposed steel beams serve a structural function, and instead of hiding them, they are honored in their natural state, giving character to the space. The design of the house seeks to connect you with the outdoors. The ground floor bedroom is designed to make you feel in contact with nature, with finishes in lambrin and polished Santo Tomás marble. The bathroom offers a unique experience, with a shower that opens onto an internal patio and design details such as a sink for two people and a toilet with an air trap that raises the level of comfort. Finally, the roofed hallway that connects the different spaces of the house reflects the teachings of one of Henry Ponce's teachers, the architect Félix Mier y Terán: "You don't have to design with the storm in mind."
