Portugal has a relatively small territory when compared to other European countries, but it is quite diverse, with landscapes, customs and traditions that differ from north to south. Perhaps that is why it is one of the favourite destinations for European motorcyclists, who discover phenomenal roads, breathtaking landscapes, a rich and ancient history and even a cuisine that will leave you wanting more. The climate - especially the lack of rain for much of the year - makes it an ideal country to explore on a motorcycle, and that is what Honda set out to do, with three different motorcycles, but with something in common: the engine. The Africa Twin, NT 1100 and Rebel 1100 T were the models chosen, all equipped with the same parallel twin-cylinder engine; this was first introduced in the CRF1000L Africa Twin presented in 2016, then with 998 cc, and was later renewed in 2000, when its capacity increased to 1084 cc. Despite using the same 'heart', the three models are different and appeal to different clientele. The Africa Twin, especially this Adventure Sports version, with a larger capacity tank and Showa Electronically Equipped Ride Adjustment (or Showa EERA) electronic suspension, appeals to the more adventurous, whose journey can continue even when the asphalt ends; for those who want to cover many kilometers, but don't want to leave the paved roads, the NT 1100 is an excellent alternative to the 'African'. It is almost a modern-day successor to the much-missed Pan European and we could almost call it the 'Europa Twin'. If the Africa Twin and the NT have much more in common than just the engine, the Rebel 1100 T is a radically different bike. The model already existed and is very successful commercially throughout Europe, and for this year Honda decided to add this new version, called T (for Touring), equipping it with side cases and a small 'batwing' fairing, which does a good job of diverting the brunt of the wind away from the rider's torso. To get to know the tourist capabilities of these models, Honda organized this two-day trip through the interior of our country, discovering Secret Portugal. In general terms, the route took us from Lisbon to Unhais da Serra on the first day, and on the second day we connected Serra da Estrela to Porto. We only rode on the motorway to leave Lisbon and then to enter Porto. #honda #africatwin #nt1100 #rebel1100 #motorcycletourism #tourism #portugal
