The story of the Belarusian Jew known as Alex Kurzem is suitable for a feature film. Alex Kurzem, real name Elia Sołomonowicz Galperin, came from Kojdanov. At the age of 5, he was supposed to have observed the pacification of his village from hiding. Then, as an orphan, he wandered through the forests, eventually ending up in... the Latvian 18th Police Battalion. He became the mascot of the Latvian SS Legion and the hero of propaganda films distributed in Nazi Germany. Today we will tell you about the youngest SS man in the service of Adolf Hitler and the Third Reich.
