There were seven of them. They were huge and powerful, they influenced the policy of the governments of large countries, they could overthrow the governments of smaller countries. They determined what the price of the most precious liquid in the world would be, how much consumers would pay for it, how much the countries from which the precious liquid was extracted would get for it.
