One of the most visited tourist attractions in Berlin is the Brandenburg Gate. It is, without a doubt, one of the largest, if not the largest, German national symbol. After being the symbol of Prussia's glory, the Brandenburg Gate ended up being the site of the political staging of the German defeat in the First World War and the rise of Adolf Hitler to power. It was destroyed when Germany was defeated in the Second World War, and also right in the middle of the line of death of the wall that divided Berlin and Germany.
