“History of Armenian Medicine” is a unique journey through time: from prehistoric times to the Middle Ages, from the most striking episodes of the Soviet medical school to the discoveries of traces of Armenian medicine in the region. The idea and initiative of the film belongs to documentary and feature film director Artak Avetyan. The film was shot entirely with the financial support of the Wigmore Group to present and preserve the rich history, important episodes and heritage of Armenian medicine. The documentary “History of Armenian Medicine” is the contribution of the Wigmore Group to present and preserve the history of the field as a corporate social responsibility initiative. The filming was carried out in Armenia, Georgia (Tbilisi) and Turkey (Istanbul). Numerous archaeological materials were analyzed, unique works of the Middle Ages and evidence of the activities of Armenian medical schools were presented from the archives of the Matenadaran, as well as archive footage from the Soviet period with the participation of our eminent doctors.
