History of Chamunda, one of the 64 incarnations of Shakit Chand and Mund in Chotila The demon named Mund was very tormented by 'Chamunda Ma' who killed two demons While other avatars include Bahuchar Mata, Kali Mata, Ambaji Mata etc. Chamunda Mataji is the tribal goddess of many Hindus. Mata Chamunda Pratap today has developed into a town due to continuous tourism activities. Chotila is included in Surendranagar district. The temple of the world famous Chamunda Mataji is situated on the peak of Chotila mountain. Most of the temples of Mataji in India are found on top of mountains. Around 635 steps have to be climbed to have darshan of Mataji by climbing Chotila mountain. It is the highest land in Gujarat. The height of Chotila mountain is about 1173 feet.
