Building a railway line that crosses Italy from East to West (and vice versa) is not easy, because it means crossing mountains. For this reason, the Naples-Bari high-speed/high-capacity project, which includes a 145-kilometer stretch, is arousing curiosity. Work to build this project began between 2014 and 2015 and is based on a large-scale engineering effort. In fact, for the first time in Italy, in the construction of tunnels, the hyperbaric excavation technique is being used to carry out excavations in the presence of a water table. What does this mean? To explain it to you, we went to see how the work is progressing on the Naples-Cancello lot, at the height of Afragola. In simple terms: the work is being carried out under high pressure conditions (considered an extra between 0.3 and approximately 1.2 atm), keeping the tunnel sealed. To access it, workers must pass through a hyperbaric chamber, to help the body adapt to the change in pressure. The tunnel is dug with electric excavators that do not produce exhaust fumes; finally, the gallery is made waterproof to prevent infiltration from the presence of underground aquifers, while the excavated materials are transported to an adjacent room for disposal. 00:00 Naples-Bari high-speed line: work in progress 01:00 Naples-Bari railway line: an overview of the project 02:34 How to dig a tunnel in the presence of an aquifer 03:42 The phases of hyperbaric excavation 04:58 How is work carried out in a sealed tunnel? 05:58 Construction sites and safety: how to prepare to work in hyperbaric conditions 07:19 What happens to the excavated material? 08:13 How do you solve the problem of exhaust fumes? 08:52 The advantages of excavations in Iberbaric Credits: Production company: Ciaopeople Executive creative direction: Geopop Creative direction: Andrea Moccia Authors: Andrea Moccia, Francesca Frida Bonatti Direction, 3D: Giacomo Spaconi Videomaker: Federico Volpi MUA: Rosa Falco Video Supervisor: Gabriele Lauria Advertising director: Giorgio Mennella Head of branded pm & production: Chiara Iovine Head of Creativity: Alessia Bonito Oliva Branded project manager: Noemi Colicchio Producer: Nelly Tarasco Head of sales & talent management: Rosa Iuliano Senior sales branded content: Valentina Giovannini Social team: Sara Fusco, Anna Chiara Andolfi SEO team: Marzia Emilia di Matteo, Ilaria Orzo #geopop #napolibari #grandiopere #altavelocita OUR SUGGESTED VIDEOS: • Turin-Lyon high-speed train: where is it at?
