What is the body and what is the soul? For many centuries, artists, writers, and philosophers have been discussing these fundamental questions. In our lecture, we will turn to the most famous artist, Hieronymus Bosch, for an answer. What did this mysterious artist, creator of visual parables, think about man? Flying fish, strange monsters, unimaginable beasts, and other evil spirits — what do these images mean in Hieronymus Bosch’s famous triptych “The Temptation of Saint Anthony”? What are their origins, what inspired the artist to such unusual and picturesque visions? In our lecture, we will talk about the funny and scary, foggy and grotesque, frightening and terrible, fantastic images of Hieronymus Bosch. Our goal is to understand the sources of his artistic picture of the world, to conduct a detective investigation of the temptations of Saint Anthony and other paintings by the mysterious Hieronymus. Lecturer: Valeria Kosyakova, PhD in Cultural Studies, lecturer at RSUH and founder of the cultural center "Punktum". ———————————————————————————— ➜ Follow us on social networks: VK: https://vk.com/rgubru Telegram: https://t.me/rgubru
