To this day, he is considered one of the most important mountaineers of all time: Hermann Buhl's most famous achievement was the first ascent of Nanga Parbat in the Himalayas in 1953. The then 28-year-old achieved something almost unbelievable: he reached the summit alone, without additional oxygen and after bivouacking in the death zone - an impressive pioneering achievement at the time and unique in the history of high-altitude mountaineering. Buhl died in 1957 during an expedition to Chogolisa in the Karakoram Mountains when he was surprised by a cornice and fell into the depths - his body was never found. The circumstances of his death underline the dangers of mountaineering at extreme altitudes. They were Buhl's undoing and made the Innsbruck native a legend. ▶️▶️ More about mountain worlds at ServusTV On: https://www.servustv.com/natur/b/berg... ▬ Social Media ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Instagram https://instagram.com/servustv/?hl=de Tiktok / servustvon Facebook / servustv ▬ ServusTV ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ You can find out more at ServusTV On: https://www.servustv.com/ ServusTV On as an app (Apple) https://apps.apple.com/at/app/servust...
