Kroamschudd'n in Mariaparochie is a short cartoon from 1988. Lyricist and songwriter Herman Finkers initially made a radio play on behalf of RTV Oost, the lyrics of which he later incorporated into his conference The Diana Ros Show. The Christmas story was then adapted into an animated film with the help of drawings by John Croezen from Groningen. The cartoon was broadcast once by VARA, after which the program was repeated annually around Christmas by RTV Oost. In 2004, the cartoon was released on DVD together with Finkers' other cartoon, Macbeth. The cartoon tells the Christmas story in a completely unique way. The baby Jesus Christ is not born in Bethlehem, but in Mariaparochie in Twente, a village north of Almelo, as the son of carpenter Spieker-Jozef and his wife Marie. The Twente word kroamschudd'n means to visit the baby and in this context refers to the visit that the shepherds and the three wise men, among others, pay to the newborn child, not ignoring Twente customs such as baking currant loaf. The three wise men from the east are played by three Germans led by Heino.
