After graduating from Heian High School (now Heian High School attached to Ryukoku University) and Meiji University, he joined the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters in 2007. In 2014, he transferred to the Tokyo Yakult Swallows. In 2017, he decided to retire due to the effects of his chronic condition, hypothyroidism.
