Picking one highlight? Tattoo king Henk Schiffmacher found it a difficult question. In the end, he didn't choose one tattoo, but an entire genre: prison tattoos. Schiffmacher thinks they are raw and honest tattoos that have a communicative function. ???? He discusses these images (https://video-images.vice.com/article...) of Russian prisoners from the Soviet era, about which Vice wrote this article with lots of images (https://www.vice.com/nl/article/9bzvb...) . You can tell a lot from the tattoos on a prisoner's body, for example how many murders he has committed or what his status is in the criminal world. But they can also be images about a son or daughter or a lost love. ???????? Check out Danzig Baldaev's Russian Criminal Tattoo Archive here (https://fuel-design.com/russian-crimi...). ????♀️ You can learn a lot about someone from their tattoos, says Schiffmacher. That's why the police occasionally visit him with a request for help identifying a body. Like in this cold case (https://www.ad.nl/amsterdam/amsterdam...) . ????
