In this episode, we want to show you how to correctly and quickly install a heating mat in the bathroom. We want to point out that this is a task so simple that you can do it yourself. There is only one moment when connecting the mat to the installation where the company of a qualified electrician will be necessary. Below we will present the most important points during the installation of the mat: 1. Preparing the substrate. The mat should be laid on a surface that is even and free from protruding and sharp elements. In our case, we poured a self-leveling floor. Before laying the mat, vacuum the floor, draw the permanent elements of the bathroom: bathtub, shower tray, washing machine, etc. (we do not lay the mat in these places) and finally prime the substrate. 2. Prepare the place for the floor sensor. An important part of laying the mat is installing the floor sensor. The sensor will be connected to the controller and thanks to them it will be possible to regulate the heating power of the mat. The place should be chosen between the heating wires of the mat, a groove should be cut in the floor and the sensor should be mounted in a special conduit included in the set. The floor sensor should be in the protective tube, in the heating zone, parallel to the heating cables. During the installation, we take 3 measurements of the resistance of the heating wire and insulation (after removing the mat from the box, after laying the mat, after laying the floor). Thanks to this, we know that the mat was not damaged at the factory or during any of the assembly stages. We enter the measurements in the warranty card (the measurements are signed by an electrician with current qualifications). 3. Laying the mat. Laying the mat itself is the easiest part of the work. The mat has glue that will allow it to be attached to the substrate. We recommend that you also buy hot glue or construction tape to additionally stick the mat to the substrate. Remember that the mat (heating wire) must not be shortened or cut. This can only be done with a mesh. It is better to buy a mat that is too short than too long. We can leave a free space of about 20 cm from the walls. After laying the mat, we make a technical drawing of the installation. It is good practice to make photo documentation. Good luck!
