FAZENDA ESTRELA DO SUL Belmonte, BA 1909 The Estrela do Sul Farm dates back to the mid-19th century, when the region was inhabited by cocoa colonels. Unlike most of the farms shown here, this one did not belong to a baron, but to a colonel. Like all the others, this farm is beautiful and very well preserved, but its architecture is a little different from the others, such as the height of the mansion. This height is due to the Jequitinhonha River near the farm. It is very interesting to note that the current owner of the farm has as his great-great-grandfather the founder, Colonel Hermelino. His father was also a sugar mill owner, who owned another, older cocoa farm in the region. This farm is full of details. From the stone staircase that connects to the balcony that surrounds the entire mansion, to the details of the southern star depicted in various places, such as on the flags and on some of the furniture. Today, the farm still produces cocoa and from it, chocolates in several varieties are produced in Porto Alegre. Something curious that there is a cemetery on site where there are still tombstones of people who died at that time and there are many legends and theories surrounding them.
