Wojciech Majowicz runs his farm in Białczyn (Warmia-Masuria Province) located close to the border with the Królewiec District. The 36-year-old farmer focused on ecology. On 100 ha he grows: buckwheat, hairy vetch, alfalfa, sowing alfalfa, hybrid alfalfa, incarnate clover, red clover, milk thistle and occasionally spelt. After graduating from high school, I went to college other than agriculture, I found another job, but in the meantime my childhood dreams came back to me. I decided to quit my job and take care of the farm. I took advantage of the young farmer's bonus and that's how this story began - says a clearly satisfied Wojciech Majowicz. At first, I cultivated the soil in a conventional way. I tried to obtain high yields. After some time, however, it turned out that the sales result did not match what I had to pay. The profit was small, so I thought about ecology - about low investments and trying to get as much out of the land as possible - he explains. Profitability is mainly saved by subsidies. This is a safety cushion for us - even if something does not work out for us in crops. The ecological subsidy is about PLN 1,500 per hectare, and there are also eco-schemes, which significantly increase this subsidy. For years, I have been using undersown crops and catch crops - emphasizes Majowicz, who now also counts on money from the coal program. It turned out that my pro-environmental activities can be sold at a profit. I found the HeavyFinance company, we signed a preliminary agreement and that is how the cooperation began.
