The streets of Dortmund are his second home: As a master road builder, Thomas Lehnert specializes in demolition work and is responsible for four city districts. This means that the 36-year-old is the contact person for Telekom or utility companies, for example, when they lay cables or repair faults and damage - in short: when they demolish roads, cycle paths and other things. Thomas takes care of applications, drives to possible construction sites, helps with questions and, above all, checks that the asphalt or pavement has been properly repaired afterwards. Because, what was not clear to us before this LSD episode: the city is not responsible for this restoration, but rather companies that are commissioned by Telekom and Co. And Thomas is their "inspector". He came to his job via a roundabout route: After several years in retail, he started working for the city of Dortmund in 2008 and has worked his way up since then. Working as a master road builder also brings with it a lot of responsibility: On the one hand, being on call when Thomas is the first to arrive at a damage and has to decide how to fix it as quickly as possible. (You can see his most extreme experience with a sunken road in the film, by the way). On the other hand, his decisions often involve tax money - and of course he doesn't want it to be wasted. As always, you can find out more about Thomas' career and his finances in the pinned comment. --- This is "Is it worth it?": One person, one job, one life. And at the end of the day, the question: Is it worth it? We accompany people in their jobs and show their lives. Is it worth it to work for a salary and use it to finance your own life? What makes me happy at work? We don't just compare salaries, we show how people live from their work. We are always looking for protagonists: If you also want to show how you live with your job, feel free to write to [email protected]! On a personal note: We are not infallible either - and although we make every effort to present every individual financial situation clearly, correctly and understandably, we sometimes need help. The Bavarian State Association of Tax Advisory and Auditing Professions provides us with expert support – thank you very much for that!
