Together with Harald Volden (Tine/MIMIRO/NMBU) and Christian Meyer at Skjefstad Gård, we have run a project focusing on feed efficiency. The project showed that there is a lot of money to save! The film from 2020 focuses on the most important elements for achieving feed efficiency and increased earnings - Smart Feeding in practice! Sissel and Christian Meyer have invested in a milking and feeding robot from Lely, which records milk quantity, fat and protein content in the milk, rumination and feed consumption. This data is used to analyze production and optimize feeding. A project was carried out in collaboration with Fjøssystemer and MIMIRO, where feed consumption and milk production were recorded daily to see how the system works in practice under normal conditions. The goal was to improve feed efficiency, which is a measure of how much milk is produced per kilogram of dry matter feed that is absorbed by the animals. Combining different feed qualities to maximize the utilization of the feed for the different animal groups is very important. Day-to-day feeding stability is an important point in achieving high feed conversion. The Lely Vector feeding robot plays a central role in mixing different feed mixtures for the different groups in the barn. The robot also ensures consistent feed quality over time, which is especially important when using round bales of varying quality from different mowings. The results from the project show a high feed efficiency on the farm, with an average value of almost 1.7. This is attributed, among other things, to good feeding management, stable cow weight and the right level of concentrate. High feed efficiency is not only beneficial for milk production, but also for reducing costs and greenhouse gas emissions. ???? Camera: Barn Systems ???? Clip: Dialecta ????????
