Shri Krishna, after taking permission from the priest present there, proceeds to lift the Shiv Dhanush and breaks it so that Kansa's Yagya cannot be completed. When Shri Krishna and Balram attack the soldiers, they kill all the soldiers with the same broken Shiv Dhanush. When Kansa comes to know that Krishna has broken the Shiv Dhanush, he becomes more angry. Kansa punishes his commander who was given the responsibility of protecting the Shiv Dhanush. Kansa in anger asks his soldiers to attack Shri Krishna but Chanur stops him saying that if he does so then half of his army might side with Krishna. The serial is based on Garg Samhita, Padma Purana, Brahmavaivarta Purana, Agni Purana, Harivansh Purana, Mahabharata, Bhagwat Purana, Bhagavad Gita etc. Dr. Vishnu Virat Ji, Head of the Hindi Department of Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, played an important role in the screenplay, script and poetry of the serial. It was first broadcast on Doordarshan's Metro channel in 1993 which ran till 1996. This serial of 221 episodes was later telecast on Doordarshan's DD National. After Ramayan and Mahabharat, it left both the serials behind in terms of TRP. It is being telecast again on public demand on DD National from 03 May after the completion of Ramayan series during the lockdown in corona pandemic 2020.
