The Hanover city railway has a network of over 100 km and currently operates 12 lines. The longest is line 1 from Langenhagen to Sarstedt. The city railway is operated by the Hanover Overland Works and Tramway Company (ÜSTRA). The basic frequency is 10 minutes (except for line 17 and the outer branches of lines 1 and 2). The vehicle fleet includes the TW6000 from DÜWAG and LHB, as well as the TW2000 from LHB. The TW3000 is due to follow shortly, which for the first time will not have folding steps. The TW6000s have been gradually phased out since EXPO 2000. TW6000s that have been handed over are used in Budapest, for example. However, as the last examples were only delivered in 1991, it will be several years before they are finally phased out.
