▪︎Directed by J. Mudra The artistic career of Hana Hegerová, a native of Bratislava, began in 1953, when, after completing a professional theater course, she became a member of the troupe of the Petr Jilemnický Theater in Žilina. Shortly afterwards, Jiří Krejčík discovered her for a wide audience, who offered the young actress the main role in the film Fron. She first appeared as a singer in 1957 thanks to her involvement in the Bratislava Tatra Revue. However, her real popularity was ensured by performing on popular Prague music scenes - in Rokok and in Semafor. It was then that Hana Hegerová began to become a world-class chanson singer who sang in several languages and performed numerous foreign performances. In 1967, she crowned her career so far with an unexpected success in the Paris Olympia. She accepted an offer of engagement, but her dreams of a dizzying career were ended by the occupation of Czechoslovakia by Warsaw Pact troops in 1968. In the era of normalization, which did not favor music creation outside the mainstream, she remained true to her instinct and taste. She was also protected from compromises by her excellent collaborators – lyricists Pavel Kopta and Michal Horáček and music composer Petr Hapka. She not only sang catchy and fascinating lyrics, but also provided an inimitable experience. Until the end of her career in 2011, she performed in front of hopelessly sold-out audiences and appealed to the third generation of listeners with her ever-expanding repertoire. For her artistic and cultural contribution, she was awarded the Medal of Merit by Václav Havel, she is the holder of the knight's star of the French Order of Arts and Letters and the Order of Tomáš Garrigu Masaryk, 1st class.
