He grew up in an environment of financial problems and domestic violence. The authorities soon became aware of the family and the young Bernese with Syrian roots was placed in a home. What followed was an odyssey from children's home to children's home, which finally ended in pre-trial detention and admission to the closed youth home in St. Gallen. Then Hame Ali had enough. He ran away and hid for months in the city of Bern, lived with friends and slept on the street. One day he received an email that would change his life forever.
