Today we're going to the fascinating but also terrifying open-cast mine in Hambach. Here we see a huge mining area for brown coal, which produces a large amount of electricity in nearby power plants. Huge bucket wheel excavators, deep and wide pits as far as the eye can see. Impressive views that make you feel very small. On the other side, we see great destruction in the landscape, one of several villages that has to give way and be relocated due to the growing open-cast mine. We're also exploring a section of the former A4, which is also increasingly having to make way for the growing mining area. So come with us on an interesting tour of discovery between amazement, pause and reflection. Do you want to see more videos of open-cast mines, pits and the like?
