Hallux valgus is the most common foot deformity and is characterized by the formation of a bony protuberance at the level of the big toe, which also causes pain. The movement of the big toe away from the midline, leads over time to the onset of swelling, pain and inflammation, which can evolve into osteoarthritis of the big toe or all the toes.
