In Olympus, Sunday, March 9, 2008, one day before Clean Monday, the custom of Halloween was revived by the few remaining villagers. Men only dress up. Wearing breeches, foustanelles, kavayas and sakofustanas. An old man dresses up as an old woman and a doctor who gives the injection to the old man who faints and the old woman tries to help him by crying. They go from house to house playing the purpose of Halloween (camouflage). This purpose you hear only at Halloween. They say mandinades always improvised and at the end they dance, and then again in another house and so on. Unfortunately the custom is going to disappear in Olympus because there are no more young people to dress up. THE MANTINADES Go for a walk in the village before the sun sets and do the custom that goes to fade.
