For almost a year, CAPA teams followed and filmed the construction and installation site in the North Sea - 40 kilometers off the coast of Belgium - of the largest offshore wind turbine in the world: 170 meters high (3 times the Arc de Triomphe de l'Etoile and 1 time the Statue of Liberty) 1,800 tons of steel, the equivalent of 6 Airbus A380s! It took 4 years of research for Alstom teams to design and build this first example of the HALIADE, whose main components were assembled in Saint-Nazaire and whose capacity is double that of a conventional wind turbine! And for the HALIADE project teams, the challenge was huge: installing this offshore wind turbine in the open sea, in 10-meter high waves and winds that could reach 150 kilometers per hour. A film by Mickaël Beurdouche, Dimitri Grimblat, Roland Theron and Martin Mischi. First broadcast on: 05/16/2014
