◼︎ 00:00 History Special Title ◼︎ 00:25 Gwanggaeto the Great Part 1; Alexander of the East, Godamdeok Godamdeok, a young king at the age of 18! The year after his accession to the throne, he attacked both Baekje and Khitan. During his five years on the throne, he attacked Baekje in the south, subjugated the Khitan in the north, and controlled the central sea route from the Korean Peninsula to China. Later called Gwanggaeto the Great, Godamdeok was the new ruler of the Goguryeo Empire and the greatest conqueror in East Asia. ◼︎ 47:32 Gwanggaeto the Great Part 2; Pax Koreana, Peace by Goguryeo The Later Yan attacked Shinsung in present-day Fushun. In response, Gwanggaeto the Great advanced to the capital of the Later Yan, defeated the Murong Xianbei tribe, and attacked the Yan commandery near present-day Beijing. In addition, through a series of armed demonstrations, he won over the ruling class of Later Yan, including Youzhou Governor Jin, and induced the collapse of Later Yan itself. In the end, Later Yan, Goguryeo's nemesis, was destroyed by a coup d'état, and Goguryeo's Goun became the new emperor of Northern Yan. King Gwanggaeto the Great's last wish, who completed the vast empire of Goguryeo extending from the southern tip of the Korean Peninsula to Liaoxi, was peaceful coexistence. #KoreanHistory #History #HistorySpecial #HistoryJournal
