He has barely landed in Spain when Colombian President Gustavo Petro (Ciénaga de Oro, Córdoba, 63 years old) receives EL PAÍS this Tuesday at his country's Embassy in Madrid. Outside, in the gardens, music is playing, the smell of barbecue is coming and the hustle and bustle of an entrepreneurship fair that has been organised for Colombians and Spaniards in the open air reaches out. He has stopped by to greet people amid applause and selfies before sitting down to answer questions about his nine months in power. It is a short time for a very ambitious programme of reforms in a country that voted for change without giving it an absolute majority. Although, as he will say later, the main reforms have already been presented and he is encountering so many difficulties in approving them that he has just created a deep government crisis because, he says, he needs a more homogeneous executive that works for change. Petro openly admits that it is being more difficult than he thought.
