In a series of metaphysical aphorisms, some of which were directly composed by his teacher Śrī Ramana Maharshi, Śrī Muruganar expresses the quintessence of the experience of non-duality (advaita) as it manifested in the person of the sage of Aruṇācala. Śrī Muruganar was a close disciple of Śrī Ramana Maharshi, and as such he offers a comprehensive overview of his teachings while also shedding light on aspects of them that are sometimes misunderstood. As Michael James writes in the preface: "Although other accounts of Śrī Bhagawan's oral teachings, such as the Talks and the Day by Day, have a charm and value of their own, they convey opinions expressed ad hoc and ad hominem. It is only in the Guru Vachaka Kovai that we find the definitive and clear precepts of Śrī Bhagavān on all spiritual questions." This work, in the manner of the Vedic amṛta, will delight both the readers of the Maharshi and the most demanding followers of Advaita Vedānta. This text, originally composed in Tamil, was then translated into English by Śrī Sādhu Om and Michael James. It is from their work that we offer here the French translation.
