GUITARIST FOR THE BAND ANGRA with Marcelo Barbosa Marcelo Barbosa was born in Brasília and began playing guitar at the age of twelve. At 17, he was already a professional musician and taught at two major schools in Brasília. It didn't take long for him to decide to take on the challenge of setting up his own school. Seeking to set himself apart from the crowd, he focused on setting up an institute specializing in guitar, something that had never been done in the city until then. Today, his school, GTR, is one of the references in music education in the country and one of the most respected in Latin America. In 2002, he took a summer course at Berklee and further developed his knowledge of jazz guitar and harmony, returning to Brazil to resume work with the band Khallice, which he founded in 1994. In 2007, Marcelo was invited to join the São Paulo band Almah, alongside Edu Falaschi and Felipe Andreoli, at the time respectively vocalist and bassist of the renowned heavy metal band Angra, completing the tour that year and recording the album Fragile Equality in 2008, elected by specialized media as the best metal album of that year. In 2015, Marcelo Barbosa was invited to join the legendary metal band Angra. Marcelo took over the guitars, replacing Kiko Loureiro, who joined Megadeth. The musicians were replaced during Rock in Rio 2015 and since then, Marcelo has toured Brazil and the world a few times with the band. In 2018, Angra released the album OMNI, the band's first recording with Marcelo on guitar. The album won many awards and is considered by many to be one of the band's greatest works.
