The Guido Coal Mine is an extraordinary attraction for children and a unique attraction on a global scale, and we ended up there completely by accident during a trip to Zabrze. This is how it happens in life, that sometimes unplanned trips turn out to be an extraordinary discovery, and this was no different this time. In the mine, you can visit two perfectly preserved mining levels: 170 m and 320 m. A real mining elevator, the so-called szola, takes us underground, in which a maximum of 8 people can enter. The descent in the dark takes only a few dozen seconds! You can see it all in our film at the end of the entry. Level 170 This is the first stop and here the guide talks about the work of miners at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries in Silesia, the threats in the mine and mining traditions (St. Barbara's Chapel). The route on level 170 is supplemented with multimedia effects, fragments of which we also recorded for you. This is the oldest part of the mine, where we can also see the originally preserved horse stables and learn about the role that horses played in the history of mining. Level 320 resembles the excavation that miners left after finishing work. The biggest attractions on this level are demonstrations of the work of large mining machines and a ride on an electric suspended railway. Here we can learn how mining technology has developed from the end of the 19th century to the present day. We could also see what the hard work of a miner looks like and in what conditions coal is extracted. Part of the route on this level we covered on an electric suspended railway, which used to transport miners. It was certainly a great attraction for everyone. Interestingly, it is supposedly the only mining railway of this type in the world available for tourists! An extremely interesting experience was also the opportunity to watch live how a mining combine, roadheader and longwall machine works. These are powerful machines for mining rock and coal, which make an incredible impression and have an incredible impact on the imagination of not only children, but even us adults. The tour of the Guido Mine ends in the deepest pub in Europe, the so-called Pump Hall. There we could also drink a cup of coffee, buy souvenirs and try Silesian cuisine and the original Guido beer. Tour time: 2.5 - 3 hours; Route length: 3.5 km; Age limit: from 6 years ????
