Over the years the models followed one another, not only the professional ones but also the “amateur” ones, starting with the Nikon FM, followed by the FE. And then the FE2 and the FM2, one of the most popular models today among the Nikon Manual Focus. In 1983 Nikon presented its first autofocus model, the F3AF, but it was not until 1986 that, with the Nikon F501, an AF reflex camera within everyone's reach. The 401, the 801, and in 1988 the professional F4 followed. In 1990 the 601 was released, both AF and MF. In 1992 the F90 was released, followed by the F50, the F60, the F70 and again in 1996 a professional, the F5. In 1998 Nikon, with the F100, reached the top in the production of prosumer AF cameras. In 2001 the Fm3A was released, capable of shooting at all speeds even with a completely flat battery and in aperture priority with a charged battery. The last Nikon AF presented, still in the professional world, in 2004 was the F6. We will not enter the world of compact and APS models, but let us finally remember the world of Nikonos, non-housing underwater cameras with interchangeable lenses. In parallel, Nikon produces an “endless” number of lenses, from the MF ones like the F models to the Ai and Ais models, and then design the AF models. Even today, on the digital mirrorless models, thanks to the FTZ II adapter, it is possible to mount all Nikon lenses starting from the first F models of the 60s.
