In this video, I will tell you about two patrol trips in the Rukajärvi area in the summer of 1943. These Scouting trips did not have a loss to Finns and thanks to the good patrol leaders. These Scouting trips were targeted by Enemy troops', and this, the patrols came into contact with the Enemy patrols. In this video, I tell about two long-distance patrol trips in the Rukajärvi area in the summer of 1943. There were no losses for the Finnish patrols during these patrol trips, and the thanks for that went exclusively to the good patrol leaders. Second lieutenant Toivo Korhonen (b. 14.5.1916 Kuopio, d. 22.9.1969 Helsinki) and sergeant Sulo Vihtori Varis (b. 24.2.1913, fell on a patrol trip 7.7.1944 behind Kostamusjärvi) acted as patrol leaders on these patrol trips. Both patrol trips described in the video were aimed at reconnaissance of the enemy's rear, but the patrols came into contact with enemy patrols. Both patrols found a missing Finn during their patrol trip, Korhonen's patrol found the remains of a Finnish man left on the trip to Jeljärvi, and Varis' patrol found the remains of a Fokker plane pilot who disappeared in January 1942. The pictures shown in the video are mainly pictures from the War Archive, one picture is a photograph from the Nurmesen Museum. I have turned the black and white photos into color photos using image processing programs.
