This Good Friday, the narrow streets of the old city of Jerusalem are teeming with tourists and pilgrims. In the hubbub suddenly arises a dull and regular beat. These are the kawas, the traditional guards in Ottoman costume. Wearing their baggy breeches, sabres at their belts, they hammer the ground with their heavy canes to open the way for the Franciscans. Willingly or unwillingly, the crowd parts to let the procession of Friars Minor pass, who, as every Friday, mark the Stations of the Cross. There are some two hundred of them, Polish, Italian, American or French... They come from all over the world, with a mission: to serve the country's Christians. It is 2015, and it will soon be 800 years since the Franciscans have been present in the Holy Land. 800 years since they have watched over and protected the holy places... Documentary from 03/10/2016.
