It is native to tropical South America (Venezuela, Colombia), and is known as a plant that plays the role of a natural humidifier because it transpires well. (It is a good plant to grow indoors and purifies benzene and formaldehyde in the air.) It grows most actively at 20-22°C and the growing temperature is 15-25°C. Since it is sensitive to cold during the winter, it is recommended to keep the temperature around 10°C. (Spathiphyllum temperature) Spathiphyllum sunlight (light intensity) is a plant that is often grown indoors because it dislikes direct sunlight, but it requires a lot of light, so it is important to place it on the window side and give it enough indirect sunlight. Insufficient light intensity does not sufficiently induce flowering, and the leaves look weak and dark in color. Water Spathiphyllum sufficiently when the surface soil dries, and it is important to check the soil because it tends to take up a lot of water through transpiration. After spraying the surface of the leaves, it is recommended to wipe it, and please check for diseases and pests while wiping the back as well. It grows quickly and requires growing in fertile soil. Since it is difficult to supply sufficient nutrients with water and soil, supplement nutrients once or twice a month through liquid fertilizer in spring and fall. (In the case of yellow grains, supplement once or twice a year) If the nutrients in the soil are low, it is recommended to re-divide once every 1 to 2 years. Re-dividing is a good opportunity to re-check the condition of the soil and check for overwatering and root development, soil contamination, diseases and pests, and bacterial infections, so it is wise to do it in spring (May to June) or, if that is not possible, in fall. For indoors, it is recommended to keep it on the window side or within 1m of a bright space with the fluorescent lights off, and the deeper it goes, the less likely it is to bloom. There are two ways to prune Spathiphyllum flower stalks: when the spathe is wilted and needs to be cut off, and when you want to encourage abundant flowering, you can do it in advance. Leave some space between the flower stalk and the leaves near the pot and cut. Spathiphyllum pruning is done when the clump is too dense and there are problems with light and ventilation.
