Welcome to the Academy! The iconic general of the Star Wars Clone Wars, was born on the world of Kalee under the name Qymaen jai Sheelal. Of course, not as a half-machine. He was born as a member of an organic and sentient reptilian race called the Kaleesh. The Kaleesh were the native people of the world of Kalee. This world had been plagued by constant famine and war for generations, due to constant attacks by a sentient and technologically more advanced race, the Yam'rii. This insectoid race originated from the world of the Huk. The Kaleesh referred to them as Huk, or soulless beetles. The essence of their attacks was essentially to carry off members of the more primitive race as slaves. The struggle between the two races eventually became known as the Huk War. Sheelal's (i.e. Grievous, right?) father, upon seeing his son, felt the immense anger and hatred within him. Seeking a way to relieve this tension, she eventually taught her child how to use a weapon called a Slugthrower, which was essentially a shotgun. Young Sheelal proved to be an excellent marksman, though she eventually mastered any firearm. By the age of 8, she had killed over 40 bugs, and by the time she was 22, she had killed so many invaders that the Kaleesh race began to worship her as a demigod. One day, Sheelal had a dream. She saw herself deep in the wild Kunbal jungle, killing a wild Mummu with her Lig swords. Following her visions, she donned a Mummu-hunting mask and set out into the dense forest to hunt one in real life. However, instead of finding a Mummu, she found a Kaleesh woman. Her name was Ronderu lij Kummar. Sheelal then realized that she had not seen herself, but the woman in her dreams. Kummar stood before her, Lig swords dangling from each hand, and her face was covered by a mask made from the skull of the terrible Karabbac. After that, Kummar became Sheelal's closest companion on the battlefields. The two of them, as one, were, from what we have seen so far, the incarnations of the mythical figures of the Kaleesh race, The Dreamer and The Dreamed. The two had a very close relationship, Kummar taught Sheelal how to wield a sword. In return, Sheelal trained the woman in the use of firearms. As the two Kaleesh stood in battle, masks on their faces, they became legends. Sheelal fought in the Mummu mask, which she had inherited from her father, who had lost his life fighting the Huk. Kummar was the mask of the terrible beast Karabbac. Their legend already spoke of two demigods, blessed by their ancestors. It is no wonder that they were viewed as such, since they had thwarted numerous Yam'rii incursions and killed hundreds of their oppressors. Either way, their fates could not continue. Once on the shores of Kalee, they were separated and Kummar was brutally and violently executed by the bugs. His body was thrown into the Jenuwaa Sea. Sheelal was not even able to retrieve her companion's body from the water. This led to the great warrior being overcome by constant despair and a terrible deep psychotic depression. He was inconsolable, so he set out on a dangerous journey across the Ocean to the island of Abesmi. When he arrived there, he began to beg the gods to raise him from the seabed, so that he could see him at least once more. However, the gods were silent… He tried to bury his grief and eventually had 30 children from 10 wives. However, neither the women nor the children were able to fill the void left in his life by Kummar. He accepted that his fate was to mourn him for the rest of his life. At this point, Qymaen jil Sheelal decided to throw away his old life and persona. He took a new name, one that was much scarier and more symbolic of death and eternity beyond the grave. A name that would remind him of his companion in the grave, so that he would never be alone again, even if his heart was broken… So he finally took the name Grievous. Have fun.
