In the period 30 thousand years ago, Moravia, and especially the region around Pálava, became one of the most important cultural centers in the world. The adaptation of migrating groups of anatomically modern humans to the new environment and ongoing climate changes enabled the emergence of an advanced, complex hunting-gathering society, which has no parallel in the history of mankind. The unique set of hunting settlements around Dolní Věstonice and Pavlov thus testifies not only to mammoth hunting, but also to a wide range of other human activities.
