Centenary Trek on Gran Sasso beautiful and difficult route Welcome back friends of the Giro In Giro channel, we find ourselves once again in a place we love very much, the Gran Sasso National Park, to tackle one of the longest and toughest routes of the Gran Sasso. The centenary path is tiring and fascinating, it gives us fatigue but also wonderful views and passages. We leave from Vado di Corno around 6:00 and begin this centenary trek with a nice cool breeze. We arrive at the first stop of the Monte Brancastello Day which we honestly thought was closer, we continue the route towards the Casanova towers, after about an hour and after having harnessed ourselves we continue with the via ferrata. We arrive at the Forchetta di Santa Colomba and from here the most difficult and tough stretch begins, a continuous up and down in altitude to reach, not without difficulty, the now agonized Monte Infornace, a short break and we set off again towards Monte Prena which for us will represent the last peak of the day due to the fact that we are without water and we are really tired. Once we reach the summit of Monte Prena we then begin the descent under the eye of the chestnut tree, towards the saddle of Monte Camicia and more precisely the Vado di Ferruccio point from which we take the descent that will take us back to the valley, where from there we will do another 8 km or so to get to the car.
