Who doesn't know GoPro? A digital camera that is light, tough, has a wide angle and is suitable for recording extreme action. GoPro's success has attracted the attention of big investors. In 2013, Foxconn invested 200 million US dollars for 9% of Go Pro shares which then pushed the company's value to 2.25 billion US dollars. Nick Woodman, the founder, immediately became a billionaire. A year later, GoPro went public, and in just a few months, its value more than tripled. Unfortunately, GoPro is now facing a harsh reality. GoPro's total market share in the action camera industry continues to decline significantly, from almost 50% in 2015 to less than 20% in 2019. GoPro is now lagging behind competitors such as Nikon and Garmin. Currently, GoPro is the smallest player in the action camera market with a much lower profit margin. What happened? Let's find out.
