The official channel of Sudan National Television Sudan Television was established in 1962 at the forefront of broadcasting stations known in the Arab and African region. This was at the initiative of the Minister of Information at the time (Minister of Information and Labor, Major General Mohamed Talat Farid), so its transmission began as an experiment from the roof of the National Theater Hotel in Omdurman on December 23, 1962. Professor Ali Mohamed Shamo, Deputy Radio Supervisor, was delegated to head a committee to undertake cooperation tasks with Thomson Company, and the television was established and its first general supervisor was appointed. The experimental transmission was launched from a small, limited-power device (100 watts), and receivers were distributed in public squares in various areas of the (triangle capital) - Khartoum, to which the transmission was limited. A work studio and an administrative headquarters were prepared in the buildings of the (National Theater Hotel) its current headquarters, where the official opening ceremony was held on November 17, 1963 after Thomson's contract ended and was replaced by the Federal Government of Germany, which volunteered to establish Sudan Television.
