A ten-year-old child wants to be baptized. The parish priest in charge refuses because the child is growing up with two male parents. This case has caused quite a stir, and not just in Siegerland. An important aspect, and not just for Christians: What does the Bible say about homosexuality? Does it say anything at all about same-sex partnerships with equal rights as we know them today? We have invited Professor Dr. Thorsten Dietz. We are the Evangelical Student Community of Siegen, the adult education, the school department and the marriage, family and life counseling center of the Evangelical Church District of Siegen-Wittgenstein, as well as the district association of Siegerland Women's Aid eV. Prof. Dr. Thorsten Dietz is known to many as a "theology explainer", author and podcaster on "Worthaus", "Karte und Gebiet" or "Das Wort und das Fleisch". For Dietz, the rejection of gay or lesbian partnerships is not tenable from a biblical perspective. The fact that he himself has not always seen it this way makes it all the more interesting to listen to him. Thorsten Dietz has recently started working in adult education at the German-Swiss Reformed Church in Zurich and is also a private lecturer in systematic theology at the Phillips University of Marburg. Before that, Dietz worked for many years as a professor of systematic theology at the Evangelical University of Marburg.
