This is comparable to withdrawal symptoms, because sugar and carbohydrates are our body's most popular source of energy. On the first day without sugar, however, nothing happens in the body. Our metabolism needs a while to adjust to the new situation. Many of us have definitely managed whole days without sugar. Fasting days are just one example, and on those the body does not immediately demand more energy. Giving up sugar: What does it look like after a month? After a month at the latest, the first pair of trousers should already be very loose. If we assume the 34kg of sugar per person mentioned at the beginning, we get around 100g of pure sugar per day. That's 400kcal that we saved over a month. One kilogram of body fat has around 7,000kcal and in 30 days we have already lost almost 2 kilograms of that. A year without sugar: That's what it's worth! Now let's jump back in time a bit, because over the next few months, further advantages will gradually and often unnoticed appear. The craving or addiction to sugar should then actually be over. Simply giving up sugar can reduce our risk of premature death by 34%. Yes, you heard right, conversely, this means that sugar directly and measurably increases our risk of death.
