In 1943, one of the largest armament projects of the Second World War began: the construction of the "Valentin" submarine shipyard in Bremen-Farge. At the same time, the Allies were already advancing and the German Navy was suffering heavy losses. Hitler's goal was to turn the tide of naval warfare by building the submarine shipyard and producing new submarines. Building the bomb-proof factory was extremely hard work. Over 10,000 concentration camp inmates and prisoners of war had to work on the construction site under inhumane conditions - without protective clothing, in heat or frost. More than 1,600 of them died of malnutrition, physical exhaustion or the arbitrariness of the guards. What fates lie behind the walls of this enormous relic of the Nazi era? And why was the building never completed?
