Only 5 km from Ploiești and 60 km from Bucharest, you reach one of the most famous and beloved monasteries in Prahova County. About the Ghighiu Monastery, the great historian Nicolae Iorga writes: "Near Ploiesti, where a good road takes you, there is the Ghighiu Hermitage, which is also called a monastery and rightly so, on the rich plain, in view of the decorated meadows. The beautiful church is surrounded by peaceful farm buildings with thin, well laid shingle roofs. In front is an entrance yard with tall old trees.
