Line 15–Prata of the São Paulo Metro is a monorail line and the sixth São Paulo Metro Line to enter into operation. When fully completed, it will be 26.6 km long and have 18 stations, connecting the districts of Ipiranga and Cidade Tiradentes, via the neighborhoods of Vila Prudente, Parque São Lucas, Sapopemba, São Mateus, Iguatemi, among others. With a total cost of R$6.40 billion, it was expected to meet an estimated demand of 550,000 passengers per day and connect the bus terminals of Vila Prudente, Sapopemba, São Mateus and Cidade Tiradentes. The first section, between Vila Prudente and Oratório stations, was inaugurated on August 30, 2014. For eleven months, the line operated on a reduced schedule, as a test, and without charging a fare. On August 10, 2015, the line began commercial operations, and its daily operating hours were changed to 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. On October 26, 2016, the line began operating the same operating hours as the other subway lines: from 4:40 a.m. to midnight, but with frequent testing and almost the entire day off on Sundays. Four more stations (São Lucas, Camilo Haddad, Vila Tolstói and Vila União) were delivered on April 6, 2018, in assisted operation, and began operating normally in December, still with reduced hours, and in January 2019 with normal hours. Jardim Planalto Station was delivered on August 26, 2019, and has been operating during the subway network's normal hours since its inauguration. The Sapopemba, Fazenda da Juta and São Mateus stations were inaugurated on December 16, 2019, in assisted operation, and began operating at normal times on January 6. The Jardim Colonial station was inaugurated on December 29, 2021. The section between the Boa Esperança and Hospital Cidade Tiradentes stations is not under construction, although its construction was promised to be completed by 2022 by Governor João Doria.
