Germany's best baker with Johann Lafer Whether savory or sweet: who has what it takes to be Germany's best baker? From over 1500 applications, 72 bakeries were selected nationwide to face the jury's verdict. Master baker Bernd Kütscher and head pastry chef Eveline Wild, as well as master baker Jochen Baier and master confectioner Sabine Baumgarten, support Johann Lafer on a weekly rotation in the nationwide search for Germany's best baker, which takes the judges to six regions: Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Hesse, North Rhine-Westphalia, northern and eastern Germany. In each episode, three bakeries from one region compete against each other. They must convince the critical jury with a house specialty and score points with their result on Johann Lafer's daily task. The four daily winners from each region bake every Friday for the weekly victory and a place in the grand finale in Berlin. In addition to sweet and savoury finger food for a picnic, they must master a surprise task from the jury in the shortest possible time in the weekly final. The six winners of the weekly final will then bake in the grand final in Berlin, where the best baker in Germany will be crowned. In the Stuttgart region, Florian and Volker Lutz in Ludwigsburg, Joachim Renz in Weil der Stadt and Anne Dorer in Musberg-Leinfelden will fight for the day's victory and thus for a place in the weekly final on Friday. Who can score points with the house speciality? The Gaumentanzbrot from Volker and Florian Lutz, the Weiler Muschel from Joachim Renz or the Eselsohr?
